Weird thing I’ve noticed – my most productive days it always seems at the end of them I can’t remember much of what I spent my time on yet I got a lot done, days when I’m goofing off I always feel busier.
Dunno why.
But anyway, since the full-length album I’m working on has a few delays at the moment, I decided to revisit another collection of songs I had from last spring that I’d set aside as they didn’t fit the album. At the time I’d been going to call the album Futureghosts and there were about 6 songs on there that got set aside when I changed the name and tone and started rewriting from scratch in late June, and since I do like all those songs but didn’t quite know what to do with them, I hit upon the idea a couple weeks ago that I should maybe finish them up and put them out as an EP called Futureghosts.
Pretty sure I’ve got the final mixes done now, just need to listen a few more times to be sure there’s nothing I want to tweak before I send it off to be mastered by Scott Fox [Noise Haus Studios in Edmonton, better known as iVardensphere].
Today was one of those productive days where I’m not sure where the time went. I do know that I did a round of mix adjustments and reprints, and I finished the album art, and somewhere along the lines I did some research and preliminary artwork for a newsletter/zine that unfolds into an 11×17″ poster.
I use the term “newsletter” loosely – if people want to find out what I’m up to there’s this site, there’s the Maqlu Facebook page that feeds the Maqlu Twitter, and there’s my personal Twitter if you want the really mundane shit like whether or not ProTools is freezing up on me at any given time. Instead, I think it will contain writings and other weirdness related to themes in the new EP, maybe some art as well.
Anyway, I don’t have definite release dates yet but it should all be ready for sometime in June and of course there will be more info closer to the time.
